Doug Elston

Doug Elstonbrings considerable legal and charitable organization experience to Breakthrough Partners. His background includes significant involvement in private equity fundraising, investments, intellectual property, corporate governance and estate planning for high wealth individuals.
Doug has a successful general law practice that focuses on business and corporate law and estate planning. He previously served as General Counsel and Director of Private Equity for a private investment company involved in the acquisition, development and sale of companies in a variety of industries and as General Counsel for a national environmental engineering firm. He was also the President and CEO of a manufacturer/distributor of highly specialized personal watercraft and was a co-owner of a company that exported component refrigeration and air conditioning parts to OEM manufacturers in the Philippines.
Doug has served on the boards of several non-profit organizations including Overlake Christian Foundation, Northwest Graduate School of the Ministry, Mission Media and the New Life Singers. He has also worked closely with the Alistar International Foundation which supports 2,500 orphans in Mexico, Haiti and several Central American countries and Esperanza which operates a micro-lending program in the Dominican Republic. He was also actively involved in an inner-city ministry in Seattle in establishing a new church and supporting organizations such as Zion Prep Academy.
As a Naval aviator, he served three tours of duty in Vietnam recording over 500 combat fight hours. He completed a successful Coast Guard reserve career, serving as the staff legal officer at the U. S. Coast Guard Academy and retiring as a Commander, with experience commanding a number of reserve boat units in Washington and Oregon.
Doug has a degree in Sociology from the University of Washington and a law degree from Gonzaga University. He is licensed to practice law in Washington and Connecticut. He lives in Snohomish with his wife Judy. They have two grown children, a son and a daughter, and four wonderful grandchildren.
