Mark & Sam Mielbrecht
Directors, Leadership Development
Mark’s first international summer missions trip in 1988 to a transitioning Soviet Union opened his eyes to a world of hurting, oppressed, and spiritually hungry people. Since then he has done missions work in over 10 countries and God continues to grow his heart for the poor and the powerless, the least and the lost. Soon after joining Campus Crusade Staff in 1994, his passion and pioneering spirit led him to help launch 18 campus ministry movements in Alaska, Washington, Idaho and Montana.
As the Northwest Catalytic Director trying to reach the 300,000 students on 60 non-staffed college campuses, Mark spent six years learning and implementing strategies that developed and empowered the local student population to lead sustainable movements in their own campus ministry contexts. Mark believes this ministry approach of catalyzing people, resources and partnerships is one of the primary strategies for empowering indigenous leadership to accelerate their ability to solve the spiritual, social, and economic problems facing their communities.
Mark also has a passion for men’s ministry and has helped lead international and local conferences to help men regain their heart and passion for the Lord and the unique purposes of their lives. Mark completed his B.A. in Liberal Arts/International Studies at the University of Washington and earned his Master of Divinity from Mars Hill Graduate School. Mark’s other passions include hunting and fishing and exploring the great outdoors. He resides in Everett Washington with his wife Samantha of twenty years, and their three children Jordan, TJ, and Elianna.
Samantha graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Public Relations. After spending several years as an Assistant Buyer for a local retailer, she and Mark joined the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ. Sam served as the Associate Seattle Metro Director where she watched God raise up student leaders on a number of local campuses as well as seeing many students answer God’s call to local and international ministry.
Sam believes in building strong ministry teams through encouraging spiritual formation and building strong interpersonal communication skills. She loves encouraging people to minister out of their gifting and acknowledging that God has planted people in every tongue, tribe, people and nation that He will use to bring beautiful restoration, spiritually and in every other way.
Sam enjoys spending time with dear friends, reading, crafts, walking in the woods, homeschooling her three kids and watching Survivor.
