2008 Cote d'Ivoire Pastors ConferenceBreakthrough Partners is working with and through the local leadership of Côte d’Ivoire,
counseling and connecting to resources and tools, building up those who have a desire to restore their nation to God’s purposes. They are requesting training and mentoring in Christian worldview, building sustainability within the Church, establishing a Christian university and a center for mission training and strategic leadership.

The 2008 National Pastor’s Conference, organized by the Evangelical Federation of Côte d’Ivoire and Samaritan Strategy Côte d’Ivoire, was held in August outside of Abidjan. Gary Edmonds, President of Breakthrough Partners was the keynote speaker at the conference, teaching and training around the theme of “Equipping Leaders to Rebuild Communities and Nations” to more than 150 pastors and leaders. Gary also spoke at a special seminar along with the ambassador of Israel, on “Partnering for the Peace and Prosperity of the Nation.”

Gary also met with government officials, media and community business professionals. These groups were very favorable to working with the network of churches to transform their nation. The need to break out of the poverty mentality and recognize the resources available was discussed. Gary also encouraged these leaders to become God’s agents of transformation in their nation.

Out of these meetings, a new enthusiasm and hope has developed. A training and coordination team is now operating in Côte d’Ivoire. They have begun to seek counsel to establish a Christian university to imbed Biblical ideals into the fabric of their society. Christian economic development training has taken place in partnership with the Chalmers Center for Economic Development. Plans are underway to spead this training throughout the entire country in the near future.

A network of pastors is connecting with business, community and government leaders to work together for the benefit of the nation. Peace and unity, the prosperity of the people, leadership development and a focus on women and children were all discussed. One concrete work in progress is the publication of a testimonial book focusing on biblical purpose and character for business in transforming the nation.
